A:Answer I played the original version of the game back when I was 8 years old. It was basically the only video game I was able to play for a good year or since games weren't as plentiful or available as a kid and I loved it. But having said all that, this realistically isn't a good game for a 5 year old. Or even good when I was 8.
Still won't mean he or she wouldn't enjoy it, but I'd go with something else. If you want your kid to tryout RPGs, you may want to look into a game called Child of Light. It's an easy to play RPG that's nearly all in rhyming verse and comes off just like a storybook. Amano, one of the lead designers of Final Fantasy games, helped with its visuals and artwork as well.
