Got this from the website, not sure if it really answers your question, but I believe that it has to do with metrics you input into the fitbit app. Anyway, here is what I got from their site: Several different methods are available to determine body fat percentage and none are 100% accurate. The Aria measures your body fat percentage using body impedance. Because body fat measurements can be subjective, the Aria's body fat reading may not match other scales or manual methods such as calipers. To get a sense of what body fat percentage is healthy for you, you may want to review the standard body fat ranges for your age and gender. The following website provides this information: http://www.acefitness.org/acefit/tools-and-calculators/
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Through bioelectrical impedance. The scale sends a small electrical charge through your body and calculates your body fat based on the amount of resistance that electrical charge is confronted with in your body.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It uses a small electric pulse to calculate body fat. Therefore if you are wearing socks it's not gonna work, so keep that in mind. That's why if you are pregnant it's not recommended. It's called BIA or Bioelectrical Analysis.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bioimpedance analysis Utilizes ITO electrodes that form a pattern on the top of the scale and send small signals through your body to measure impedance and calculate body mass.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Based on standards set by various organizations such DNPAO. CDC, American Diabetes Association, using a mathematical formula using height versus weight determines the BMI. But it doesn't take into account for people who are athletic or weightlifters, etc. Volume displacement is one of the most accurate methods.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. From what I understand it passes a very small current through your body and measures the resistance. I am not any sort of expert but from what I have read fat has a different resistance factor then muscle (it should be noted that you can skew this by lack of hydration as well but I think that starts getting far more technical then a Best Buy website forum).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Check out this article: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-accurate-is-my-Aria
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.water content. There is a certain electrical resistance that changes with the percentage of adipose tissue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. it gives weight and body fat %. Both are tracked as numbers and in graphical form in the fitbit app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With your weight and height that you put in the app when you are setting it up
