It does not come with a leather strap, but they are available for purchase. They are pricey but there are some that I purchased online that are made by another brand that fit great are very reasonable.

I also make sure to dry it off every time I take it off. Both of those seem to work as I haven't had a rash in a very long time.

It is more like a plastic than rubber. However, you can purchase a leather strap for the FitBit Charge 2, if your skin gets irratated by the initial band. I think the leather bands are about $50, but if it saves your skin I'd say its worth it.
