It is waterproof; I swim 2 - 3 times weekly with it, but I do not wear in shower. That said, overall these watches have limited lifespan; I had 3 Fitbit Versas, and iwith the last 2 they shut off (although not discharged) and became very hot when I attempted to charge. I don't know that there is relationship to water exposure, but historically all the Fitbits I have had malfunction within a year or 2.
