A:Answer I’ll tell you my experience on such an experience. I had the Freedompop service as you explained for 7 years on a Sprint iPhone.
When FP sold my account to Ting, I was unhappy. Even more so, after a few months of Ting service. So, I purchased an iPhone 7 by AT&T.
Then purchased the FP 12 months SIM Card from BestBuy. I activated the AT&T iPhone with the FP SIM Card. FP gave me a new cell number.
I contacted FP to request they give me my old number for the new phone and new SIM Card. FP told me to request Ting to Port my number back to to FP.
Of course FP charged me $20. To exchange the phone numbers back to my original number. (Note: looking back, I wish I had kept the new number that FP had issued to me. That number was very easy to remember. However, that’s water under the bridge.)
I’ve had the new service for one year now. And I haven’t had the problems, that I experienced with the old Sprint iPhone service with FP and Ting.
I switched both my phone service and my wife’s. We are very happy with the service and the price using AT&T iPhone with Freedompop service..
Hope this helps
