So in 7 years still no real answer to the actual, primary question - how to stop it from defaulting to econ. I understand you can push multiple buttons to finally get it to just be on regular cool, but of course that is not the question that I would also like the answer to. I often forget about this "DESIGN FLAW" so I will be doing something and all of a sudden my AC shuts off. It should either remember the last setting where it was at or it should have a way to change the default behavior. This is common sense.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Fridgidaire tells me their A/c unit does NOT switch back to ECON from cool after a number of hours. (Like I'm imagining waking up sweating to an A/C that is OFF. Not condenser off/fan going. OFF.) Well as you can see, others complain about the same thing. Unless I can get a repair guy that can disable "ECON" I am going to try "SLEEP" mode. It says that SLEEP mode goes up 2 degrees after 30 min; then 2 more degrees in the next 30 min. Then you get 7 hrs. of steady cool. That means you set it at 68, in 30 min it goes to 70, in 30 more to 72 for 7 hrs. for a total of 8 hrs. of cool. (You can set it where you want) This sounds like it will work. I'm going to give it a try in my daytime unit too. By the way, this brilliant ECON came from your government. My A/C papers stated "This unit is shipped with Econ as per the U. S. government. "
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I hate this ac. In the really hot nights during summer I wake up sweating. I have to constantly turn the unit off with the buttons to get it to cool down after it shuts off. I end up doing it 4+ times at least.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do not put it on auto cool you have to leave the fan settings on just regular cool and adjust your fan settings to your desired temp

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello Giget! Thank you for your submission. To change the set temperature, press "COOL" then Up or Down arrows until the desired temperature is indicated on the display. Please keep in mind when the unit is turned off in cool or energy saver(econ) mode, it will run in energy saver(econ) mode when it is turned on again, but the setting of temperature and fan speed will remain. Hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us directly or by resubmitting a question on this Q&A website. -Kindly
