I just installed mine into a sliding window. I had to put some woods underneath to level the window frame and installed the bracket to support. it. Then I slide the window to the A/C unit as close as possible. I bought some plexiglass from home depot and cut to fit the gap above the unit. I used the insulation (comes with A/C unit) to cover any gaps, bought some additional adhesive insulation roll to patch any remaining gaps to prevent warm air coming inside. Another simple modification that I made is to get a round metal rod to lock the A/C unit in place ( there's a bracket attached on top of the unit, so I just placed that rod horizontally from one end of the glass window to the other end of the other side. That should prevent the A/C to fall down.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I installed it in a sliding window. I bought a piece of large square insulation from home depot for around 5 bucks to fill in the space above it. It's not the prettiest but it can be done.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not unless you have a window that is wide enough when fully opened and you are willing to fill the space above it with plywood or similar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Jiggs, we thank you for taking the time to submit your inquiry via this forum. When installing an air conditioner such as model FFRE12B3Q1 in a sliding window, you will need to ensure that there is no open space above the appliance. You may do so by using materials acquired at a local hardware store. What you must avoid is any alterations to the appliance itself from its original design as it will void your manufacturer’s warranty. We hope this information is of assistance. Feel free to reconnect with us directly or via the Q&A forum on this website. –Best Regards-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We built a wooden frame to hold it into our sliding casement window. You can find instructions online with a quick google search.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's best for security to install some kind of barricade that fits into the unit seal to fill the open space. A large wood board the size of your open window and wide enough to fit in the window seal/ac unit top seal.
