All electrical devices should be connected to a breaker either at a main or sub panel. Perhaps you’re wondering if it needs to be connected to a GFCI outlet? Some codes might require that it is for safety reasons, but it is not necessary for its operation. Any standard, properly wired, 2 prong with ground outlet should be sufficient.
