This unit doesn't come with a softener dispenser. The cover on the agitator that comes with this unit is just a cap where it can be removed to place a sold seperately softener dispenser. However, they are no longer making them. It took me months and months of looking to find one that fits this unit. I believe I may have found and purchased the last one on the planet and it was $76. However, you may get lucky and find one, too. The GE softner dispenser does not fit it either. There is a few I didn't try that are on Amazon made as a general softner dispenser that fits several units but make sure it is compatible with Fridgidaire. If you call Fridgidaire they will tell you they stopped making them, but you can put softener in during the rinse cycle, or with a softener dispensor ball. My advice is to not use the balls because they work briefly and as the weeks go by the flap that is supposed to open up during the rinse cycle starts to open other than during the rinse cycle (ex. spin cycle), which leaves straight blue softener spots on your clothes if you don't notice and rinse it before drying. Then the softener dries on your clothes and stains them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good afternoon, Tina. You can add liquid fabric softener to the final rinse, and we recommend diluting it before adding to the tub. If you forget to add the softener before the final rinse, you can select the rinse and spin cycle to add it.
