Hi Rick, That is a good point. I experienced the same thing in our bathroom unit -- it got to about 130 degrees on the hose temperature. Yes, this is common with all portable AC units. If you use a cool aide insulator on the exhaust hose, it takes care of the heat and brings the unit hose to room temperature.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is normal, uninsulated hose gets hot with hot air. Try to stick most of the exhaust out the window, but u have to compensate with the location. No Win Situation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.JUST PURCHASED 2 GE PORTABLE AC'S......AND YES ...THE EXHAUST HOSE ON BOTH GETS VERY HOT. I THOUGHT AT FIRST THE AC'S WERE IMPAIRED. I GUESS IT MUST BE NORMAL, AFTER READING THESE OTHER COMMENTS. ....OH WELL..!!!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, mine gets "hot" also. Very normal. Won't start a fire or any issues though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it gets very hot! The physics of thermodynamics tells us that heat can be transferred through pressure. Compressing a liquid back into a gas generates a lot of heat. That's why the unit and the exhaust hose will get hot. Whoever said it didn't get hot, are you sure it was on? I know what I'm talking about, I will be eligible for the architects exam in 2.5 more years out of the 10 required.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.i have a older floor ac unit and the hose gets so hot. and it does it no matter what room i put it in. i got a newer model and the hose does not get hot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes...i just purchased one two days ago i am going to return it. Bad design
