Yes. Ours does the same thing. And the air it is blowing is not very cold at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Official reply from Frigidaire does not make scene to me at all. The product description and title shows Up to 350 sq. ft. cooling capacity Allows you to keep a medium-sized room cool. Why would this not cool down a 250Sq.Ft room then?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Very common problem with this unit. Many many reviews with the same complaints. It’s an oversized fan that never gets cold. Just cool on cool days. On hot days it’s just room temperature to warm air.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The reason why bigger is not better with AC units is because an AC doesn't just cool the air, it also dehumidifies it. If the unit is oversized, it will short cycle. it will blow cold air and get the temperature down quickly, but it will not feel cool because the air will be humid and stagnant. It is important that the unit runs long enough to dehumidify the air. And it helps if it circulates the air. That said, if it is running nonstop for 3-4 hours and the room is not getting cool, then I would expect either there is an issue with the unit, it is not set up properly, the room is not well insulated, or you have other heat sources in your room (computers?) that it is struggling against. If it is not blowing out cold air, then I would expect there is an issue with the unit. It is possible, if you have insulation problems or other heat sources in the room, that the AC might not be big enough. When HVAC technicians size up a house, it isn't just a matter of square feet. They have to consider things like whether the house is shaded by a tree. How well is it insulated. Etc. This doesn't necessarily answer the question, but hopefully it will shed a bit of light on the other response.

In researching, an 8,000 btu would cool up to 350 square feet. When selecting an air conditioner, larger is not always better. For a room the size of 250 square feet a 6,000 would possibly be more efficient for cooling. We hope this helps! -Thanks!-
