On another Frigidaire range model I have a similar Simmer-to-Boil burner. It's a one-size burner, and its size is that of the solid ring (well, solid for three quarters of the circumference and dashed for the other quarter; I don't know why). The other three dashed-lined rings, to my knowledge, have no meaning. There are several "dead rings" within the burner area that never light up; it is a different kind of burner than the other single-size burners. Because it doesn't all light up, I would guess it produces a less uniform heat than the other burners that light up on almost all of the disk area, but in practice I never saw a difference (I have good cookware). I say "almost all of the disk area" because all of the burners on my range have a thin radial segment that doesn't light up; again I don't think it makes a difference. Finally, just like most burners ever produced in the human history of electrical ranges, there is a knob that allows you to control the heat output, "from simmer to boil".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for reaching out to us. The circles on the ceramic glass cooktop outline the size and type of element underneath. For this model, this will heat all the way to the outer ring. - Maria
