The only time you need to apply the drain hose is if you are using the air conditioner in the dry mode. The dry mode is to remove the excess humidity from the room. We live in the Deep South where humidity is always a hundred percent we have not had to use the dry mode. Just maintaining the room at an average temperature has been sufficient.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you need a hose to drain when on DRY, no water is capture when on COOL so you don't need to drain it on that setting.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’ve had this AC running for about a month now, and just for kicks I checked to see if the drain needed to let loose any condensation today and not a single drop came out. To my knowledge, if you use this AC in Auto or Cool mode, even though to compressor is running most of the condensation is lost through the exhaust. However, the manual DOES state that if you choose to use the dehumidifier function, the drain must be connected and run to a drain pan. I hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not had to hook up the exhaust hose, but I live in Colorado, where it’s dry. I’ve heard that you might need to if you’re in a humid climate. Also, the instructions say that you do need to use it if you’re using the dehumidify function (I am not)
