QuestionWhat is normal compressor cycling?With all my old ACs, compressor would run, and run, and run until temp setting was reached, then cycle on/off as room warmed/cooled. With this unit (and my FRA054 and FRA186) the compressor turns off and on even before the set temp is reached. This means it takes longer to reach set temp. Is this normal?

- Answer There may be several reasons for the compressor to be cycling on/off unexpectedly. One possibility is that the unit is turned on in sleep mode. When a unit is in sleep mode, the unit will alter the set temperature by a few degrees after an hour of being on. This setting is designed such that the air conditioner saves energy while the user sleeps. After 8 hours, the unit will return the original set temperature (see the owner's manual for more detail on sleep mode). Another possibility is the location where you are measuring the room temperature. The unit measures the temperature of the air coming into the unit. If this air is cooler than the air on the other side of the room, the set temperature may be reached at the unit (compressor turns off) prior to the temperature being reached on the other side of the room. Sizing the unit properly for the room is important to prevent this situation. Another possibility is that the filter on the unit is dirty. A filter that is not cleaned regularly may affect the unit's ability to properly detect the temperature of the air in the room and may cause the compressor to turn off and on irregularly. QuestionNeeds a air conditioner with no more then 7 1/2 amp. But need 10000 btu to cool room. Do you have anything?I live in a old building and can not go over 7 1/2 ampts. My promble is i need a 10000 btu to cool my room. Do you have any thing to fit the bill.

- Answer Unfortunately, the largest unit that we have that will get you under 7.5 amps is the 8000 btu unit, which comes in at 7. Any of our 10000 btu units will be at least 8.8 amps. Just to verify that yo do indeed need a 10k unit and could not get by with an 8k, you can gather all of your room information (sq ft, number of windows, celing height etc) and call 800-FRIGIDAIRE and they will be able to help you find out if the 8k unit might be able to fit your needs. - Answer We do not have one that is that exact size, the closest that we have is the model that I've recommended below, which is Product Height 17-3/4", Product Width 23-5/8".

QuestionHow can I get unit to work properly overnight?Overnight, after set temp is reached, room never really warms up enough to allow compressor to kick in again (no sun, outside temps usually falling). Either with energy saver or not, just the fan runs and the humidity level climbs, making room uncomfortable even though temp is OK. Is there any way to overcome this with settings or is this a design flaw?

- Answer The fan is sampling the air to keep the set temperature "set". Try lowering the unit one to two degrees cooler for the humidity.

QuestionDehumidifierHow can you call this a dehumidifier? Most AC units remove moisture and this unit has no setting for strictly dehumidification. I even reviewed the manual and there is no mention of dehumidifier.

QuestionModel # FRA085AT7-The specs for this air conditioner list an external drain connector. I'd list to know what type of hose I can purchase to fit.I'd like to attach a hose to drain the water from this unit. The opening to too small to attach a regular garden hose. Is there an adapter for this unit?

- Answer Our window air conditioners do not come with drain connectors. Only our portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers have that connection. Thanks, Frigidaire
