Q: QuestionWe are looking to purchase a double oven and would like to keep the microwave from this combo set. Will the microwave work on it's own or does it need to be connected to the wall oven?

Q: QuestionHi, I bought this unit several months ago prior to starting a kitchen remodel. Too late to return it. I'm now rethinking my kitchen layout. Since the microwave and oven are separate units, can I install just the lower oven portion by itself?

• A:Answer Thanks for your reply Anniesmom but these are separate units simply attached by a bracket and trim kit for the microwave. They do not share a common circuit board. The microwave has its own power cord which plugs into a standard household outlet, ( ive tried it) and the lower oven portion gets hardwired into a 240v 30 amp circuit. The lower oven based on all the specs seems to be the same as the frigidaire gallery single wall oven. I was hoping for a response from Frigidaire Support or someone familiar with this particular unit to confirm

• A:Answer This actually is a separate oven and microwave oven that's just mounted together to look like a double oven, so it shouldn't be too difficult to do if you buy this unit. Other microwave/oven combos that are one piece may not be as easy.

• A:Answer I do not believe so. This unit vents straight out the front of the oven between the microwave and lower ovens. There doesn't seem to be a way to change that. I have attached an image of the back of the unit in case that helps to answer your question.

• A:Answer I imagine that would depend on your local electrical codes. Most appliances like this are typically hardwired, but I have had an electric cooktop and even an electric water heater installed with a plug, so I suspect it can be done.

Q: QuestionI am looking to replace a 30 inch JTP86 GE Double Wall Oven (micro/oven) combo. Will this fit the same dimensions? If so, how do I find out where there is an open-box?

• A:Answer If you cannot find your old oven's dimensions online, then the best way to determine this is to measure your current cut-out dimensions. The cut-out requirements for this oven set is: Cut-Out Height 41.13 inches Cut-Out Width 28.5 inches Cut-Out Depth 23.5 inches When I replaced my oven with this unit, my cut-out depth turned out to be 23.0 inches, so the installer had to cut out the back of the cabinet for it to fit. There's really no other way to know other than measuring what you already have or measuring the cut-out.

• A:Answer I would say yes, as these are actually two separate appliances with their own control panels rather than a true dual oven sharing the same control panel, etc. You can see it easier from the back of the unit (photo attached).

Q: QuestionWe are having our whole kitchen redone and the electrician needs to know how to set up the circuit. We have not received the oven yet for him to look at. How many plugs does it need and what circuit amp is required.

• A:Answer The microwave and lower ovens are completely separate units. The microwave plugs into the lower oven, and then the lower oven is hardwired. Please note that I am not an electrician, but I suspect that you could get by with a 30amp/240v circuit, but that could cause problems if you use the microwave for a long period of time while the lower oven is also on. To be safe and for future expansion/replacement options, you may just want put in a 50amp/240v circuit, which is standard/code for a double oven. Again, I'm not an electrician and honestly your electrician should know the answer to this (or you may want to find another electrician).

Q: QuestionMy Cutout detentions are 28.5 x 46.25. can I order the trim kit on the microwave in a thicker trim so that it fits my cut out dimensions?
