Q: QuestionThe plastic cover that goes over the adhesive, what you peel off before sticking it to the windshield, was fused to both plates that came with the unit. I can't pull off the plastic w/o destroying the adhesive. How can I get a replacement plate?

• A:Answer Garmin's Dash Cam devices have a Display Timeout setting which will automatically dim the display of the device after a period of inactivity. The device will continue to record video even while the screen is dimmed (indicated by a red light), provided the microSD card remains in the device and the device remains powered on.

• A:Answer Technically I guess you could but be aware that this will then have the camera running constantly. Best is to locate a normally off positive lead and that way it will only activate once car is started or key is in the "on" position.

Q: QuestionDoes this record audio? If it does records audio, is the audio picked up on the outside of the vehicle? I am wanting to use it to do custody exchanges and I’m needing something to pick up video and audio On the outside of my vehicle.

• A:Answer Yes, it does. And it’s pretty good recording too. It’s also small enough to keep discreet. I’d recommend installing close to the window you plan on conversing out of (if conversing) or installing under rear view mirror especially if your rear view unit is black it’s hidden really well and small enough to not even be noticeable upon first glance.

• A:Answer I do when I am parked in my motorhome. I connect using the garmin app and select the camera’s wifi. So I would say yes as long as you are connected to it’s wifi, range may be your issue. Not sure if cloud based access is available

Q: QuestionMy previous dash cam had a tendency to overheat and would get stuck in a shut off, turn back on loop which finally made me get rid of it. Is this cam known to work well in hot cars? Or should I prepare to take it out of the car if I'm not driving?

• A:Answer I wouldn’t recommend parking in direct sunlight which I get is hard but if you park your car backwards (like back in as I do) don’t unless direct sunlight won’t be hitting the unit because it will over heat.

• A:Answer Hit and miss depending on conditions; most likely a miss at 50'. I don't know how others do at 1080p and 30 fps, probably similar. It does do pretty good at maintaining consistent footage quality in various conditions as far as lighting, color, glare and shadows etc.

• A:Answer Yes, the Garmin Dash Cam will immediately begin recording video when it is turned on. It will continue to record, overwriting the oldest non-protected videos, until the device is turned off.

• A:Answer Yes!! Just connect your camera to your computer with supplied USB - USB-C cable and you can down load videos. Only draw back that I found out is that you must down load all videos to computer for clearing sim card!!! You can not delete from sim card directly. But you can review videos and delete from the app on your phone while next to the camera on dash!!

• A:Answer While connected to an external power source, the Dash Cam will continually record footage and temporarily save it to a microSD card inserted into the device. As the SD card's capacity fills up, the device will begin to overwrite unsaved data.
