The installation is simple and can be done without a mechanic. You can use the suction cup mount to place the Garmin Drive device on the dashboard and use the power cable to power the unit.

Be sure to place Garmin in a place easy to see, but not obstructing your view of the road. Also position excess cord away from steering wheel and gear shift lever.

None of that is permanent, it is just a suction to your windshield and it works quite well. Keep in mind, that you cannot speak your directions into this device, (it needs to be typed—so you must be stopped) had I realized this when I purchased (and before I threw out all the packing in the box!) —I would’ve gotten the next better Garmin.
