It is, but I would recommend to do an update as some maps were updated since the release of this unit.

Yes but with limitations. You will have to plug it into your (car) charger because the battery isn’t charged. There is also some minor set-up but no lengthy registration process. It look rather long to get a GPS signal at first. I bought mine a week before a trip to Alaska and was glad for the time beforehand to get the newest maps and updates while the GPS was connected to my laptop. In a nutshell: you could use it more or less out of the box but I would not recommend it. I hope it helps.

You have to plug into your computer and download Garmin express and update it !
