QuestionMy grand daughter is studying in Spain this semester. She is a cross country runner and I would like to know if she would be able to use it there. She has never been to Europe and it is very important she knows the maps of the areas she runs. Thank yo

- Answer The 401 will not show maps, what it will do is save way points, make a breadcrump path, give you a route if you upload one and show you your current location in coordinates. if she wants a GPS that will show her city and topographic maps of the surrounding area this is not the device for her. if she wants to track runs and be able to find her way back to her start point this will work perfectly.

QuestionDoes this model still show rate of speed (KPH/MPH)? My old Garmin 401 had that feature, which I used when flying my balloon. I don't see it listed in any of the detailed descriptions, however.

- Answer Hello, The operating temperature range of the Foretrex 401 is from -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit(-20 to 60 degrees Celsius). Thanks Chris

QuestionDoes this product (the GPS) work in the middle east?

- Answer Definitely yes. This particular model is very popular among deployed military. It does not have downloadable topo maps so you know where you are based on particular coordinates, waypoints, a preprogrammed route.

QuestionIs the color of this item really "Gray," as is says in the title? As far as I am aware, Garmin only made this model in Green (face surrounding screen) within a Black body. Thank you.

- Answer You are correct, there is a grey e-paper screen and a dark/ charcoal surrounding but the face is green.
