QuestionHow can I register my Garmin GTM 60 Traffic Receiver?

- Answer You do NOT have to register the Garmin Traffic Receiver. In fact you CAN'T! I received mine and attempted to register it as the instructions with it indicated. I went to the Garmin website it mentioned and I could not see where the registration would be possible. I called Garmin and waited on hold for almost an hour. When the agent came on I asked the exact question you just asked. She kind of laughed and said, "I don't know why the instructions with it say to register it, because you no longer need to. Just start using it in your car and it'll be fine." It does seem to work fine. So hopefully I just saved you an hour of wasted time. You're welcome. :)

QuestionIf I buy Garmin DriveSmart 51 LMT-S 5" GPS Built-In Bluetooth, Lifetime Map Updates and Lifetime Traffic Updates, and purchase this cable Model: 010-01031-00, I am right in understanding that I do not have to have a smartphone to get live traffic updates

- Answer Unfortunately, the cable from the Drive 60 will not provide traffic for the Drive 61 LMT-S. A phone with data plan is needed for the Live Traffic provided by the Smartphone Link app. If you don’t have a Smartphone, the device is compatible with the GTM™ 36 Traffic Receiver (010-01009-02).

QuestionWill the GTM 60 work with the Drivesmart 51 LMTS? I was disappointed that I bought "lifetime traffic" with the 51 but it doesn't come with the traffic-enabled power cable that would make that happen.

- Answer I feel that it should work on any Garmin GPS unit, unless it is an old one. I would go on a Garmin site and talk to a tech team about this though. It is a 3D one, and it needs to be one that can have that graphics capability. I hope it works for you. If it doesn't, keep the packaging and the receipt, and Best Buy is good about refunding your money

QuestionI just bought a Garmin - Drive 52 5" GPS - Black . It says ,for traffic updates, purchase GTM 36 Traffic Receiver/ Vehicle power cable Part No. 010-01009-02. I cannot find it?

- Answer You can find the Garmin GTM 36 Traffic Receiver on eBay or Amazon easily. You're better off getting the GTM 60 though, since it updates it's traffic information every 30 seconds, whereas the GTM 36 only updates every 5 minutes. This could mean the difference in being alerted to take the nearest exist and avoid a delay or driving right past the only opportunity to avoid it.

- Answer Yes, it can receive both. If it is out of range of an HD transmitter, it will automatically receive FM signals by default.

- Answer I have the Garmin DriveSmart 65 and use the GTM 60. I can't say if the traffic data is better (more up to date or better reception). I didn't want to use my phone with the Garmin for traffic data because of the battery drain and data usage. The GTM 60 hasn't given me any problems or bad information. I think it would depend on what area you are driving in and how much traffic there is.
