A:AnswerYes, the LM in model number indicates the unit does come with free Lifetime Map updates. Map updates will update the preloaded mapping (USA - Lower 49 States) on the device.
Thank you. *CG
A:AnswerMap updates are very large files, and download times vary based on your internet connection/speed. It may take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, to several hours to download depending on the speed of your Internet connection. The download is not suitable for use with dial-up Internet access or Satellite Internet Providers.

A:AnswerThe nüvi 57LM has internal-rechargeable batteries that are not consumer replaceable. There is a battery icon present at the top of the screen when it’s not being charged. You can charge the nüvi with the vehicle power cable (included in the box) or the USB cable connected to a computer indoors, also included in the box.

A:AnswerYes, you can save an address in the nüvi 57LM for future use. Please reference the link below on the steps to add an address.

A:AnswerI just found out the hard way but none of the Garmin units carried at Best Buy US have Canadian maps loaded.
I pulled into Canada (drove up from Seattle), and noticed the maps stopped loading. I just assumed they were included because the one I'm replacing from 10+ years ago has all of North America. I pulled into a Best Buy Canada and bought one there instead. I returned the one I bought in the US because the Canadian map download would have been $60.
A:AnswerThat is not true. I just downloaded & updated maps and voice options yesterday using my tablet via Garmin Express, no issues. The squirrel voice is hilarious sounds more like Alvin n the Chipmunks
A:AnswerYes, the model pre-loaded with the lower 49 states includes US, Canada, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, French Guiana, Saint Barthelemy, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.

A:AnswerIn addition to the GPS system itself, it includes a vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable, USB cable, lithium-ion battery and an owner's manual.
A:AnswerNo, it does not have to be charged. It will work out of the box if you connect to a power source, such as the car charger. That being said, we would highly recommend connecting to a computer first and checking for map and software updates for the device using Garmin Express (http://garmin.com/express). \tw/
