Yes, Garmin Speak Plus connects via Bluetooth to your phone and uses the Garmin Speak app. The device features always up-to-date maps of North America. It does not connect to Wi-Fi and yes, you can manually enter addresses using the Garmin Speak app.

Yes you have to download the Garmin app to be able to work with the Garmin Speak plus. I’m sure you can set up some notifications to your smartphone. As long as it’s connect to your phone data, it would use the maps from it. So far it connects to your phone data, but they did release an update on their app to be able to connect the Garmin speak plus video app via WiFi. Yes you can manually type the address on the Garmin Speak plus app.
