A:AnswerI think you need a smartphone to get the device registered and up and running. From then on out, it can be used as a standalone device. You will not receive any software updates, however, without a connected device tethered to it.
A:AnswerYes, you can broadcast the heart rate information from the vivosmart HR+ to the Edge 830 using the ANT+ connection.

A:AnswerThe display will be always on when charged. You can access different widgets by swiping, or use the menu button to access other features of the device.

A:AnswerThe vivosmart HR+ is able to set an alarm using Garmin Connect Mobile on a paired smartphone. Use the following Owner's Manual link for more information: https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/QlpYdOoeMJ7Syd8sKqZmR8.
A:AnswerThe vivosmart HR+ will automatically track steps while walking and running during the day. The device will automatically reset at midnight. You can track steps overtime by viewing your data in Garmin Connect. There is not an option to manually adjust steps totals in Garmin Connect.
A:AnswerYes. Also with an iPad. Need Garmin Connect app and or Garmin Express. Just google those two names and download the correct one for either laptop or iPad.
A:AnswerIf I were a betting person I would put my money on the Garmin. Why you ask? For 2 reasons. I use to wear an Omron Pedometer which was very accurate but Runkeeper never equaled my pedometer. The Garmin I have actually taken the time to step it off counting my steps and found it to be very accurate. If if it was off between 1-3 steps. I find that to be excellent.
A:AnswerI am attaching screen shots of sleep tracking from iPhone. It does not track REM. It tracks by deep, light, & awake. I have not tried to wake up with sound as I am hard of hearing. However I wake up each day using the vibration. It is enough for me. You can schedule recurring alarm. Only issue is that you can only have one alarm. On the fitbit I could have multiple. I don't see capability to alarm on light sleep windows.
A:AnswerIt should be compatible, but there are issues. I'm using it with a Windows Phone (Alcatel Idol 4s), and while the Garmin Connect Mobile app installed and works, it won't pair with the Vivosmart. The only way I can consistently upload data from the Vivosmart is on my PC.
A:AnswerPretty sure you can as the only radio on this tracker is Bluetooth. If you're already carrying around a BT enabled phone, then this should be fine as well.
A:AnswerHi soccereds,
Any exercise that gets my heart rate pumping(arc trainer, indoor cycling, stair climber, etc.) that I want my heart rate tracked I use cardio. I then go in the garmin app on my computer and fix it manually.
