  • QuestionCan you use the timer while the microwave is running?

    • Answer Hey there, and thanks for this great question! The Timer and microwave functions (like Time Cook, Express Cook, etc.) cannot be used at the same time; we regret any inconvenience this may cause. The Timer functions as a minute timer and can also be used as a hold setting after defrosting. More information on the Timer is available on page 12 of the manual (which can be viewed on our GE website by looking up the model number and going to the product page) if that may be helpful.   • QuestionIs there a compact unit that has a left hand plug ? For me 39" might do it, but it will be a tight fit.

    • Answer Hi there, We certainly understand your concern and will be happy to explain. The model you received is the same model, it just has an additional number. When the model is manufactured, these extra letters/numbers are placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. These letters/numbers are used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, these are used as identifiers for the specific appliance.   • QuestionHow well does this heat packaged frozen food?

    • Answer Hi - This GE microwave will do a great job heating packaged frozen foods. Cooking or reheating directions usually list the suggested cooking times as a span of time. Ex. 6-8 mins.   • QuestionI have adequate venting space all around but the 39” chord is way to short for my situation. Can you use an extension chord? And what kind?

    • Answer Hello - Great question! We strongly recommend that an extension cord not be used with a microwave due to potential safety hazards under certain conditions. Extension cords may be used if the following conditions are met. The extension cord must be a three-wire grounding type appliance cord that has an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approval and mentions the current it can handle. The extension cords are usually marked 15 or 20 amps. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the microwave. The extension cord should be placed so that it cannot be pulled on or tripped over. We're very glad that you checked! -Mikayla@GEA

    • Answer Hello there - Great question! This microwaves is intended for countertop use only. We don't recommend installing them in tight spaces, like a cabinet. Countertop only microwave models need at least 3" of clearance on both sides and the top, 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. We're very glad that you checked. -Mikayla@GEA

  • QuestionGE APLIANCES, Why has the sensor feature not included with a lot of Microwaves? Is it not a feature really needed for auto cooking? Thank you for any thoughts.

    • Answer Hello there - This is a great question. Sensor cooking and auto-cooking use differing methods to cook food items in the microwave. Sensor cooking senses a burst of steam that comes from the food item and then determines cooking time and power level based on that information. Auto-cooking, such as auto defrost, determines cooking time and power level based on preset settings and information that you input (such as the food item's weight). We hope this is insightful.
