Microwave is making a crackling noise all the time null

sounds like it might be arcing from some metal.If it has a secondary shelf of metal looking material,you might try removing it.You might also remove the circulating table

Hi-this is Sue from GE. Popping sounds are usually caused by the food item being cooked in the microwave. Food items with a higher fat content will pop and sizzle as they cook. Covering the container will reduce this. Noises can also be heard when cooking foods with tight membranes such as potatoes. Pierce the skin of potatoes before cooking. Food spills will also cause popping noises. Clean up spills in the microwave as soon as they occur. It has been found that some vegetables such as green beans and carrots may cause an arcing effect/sparking (on the food product itself) when cooked in the microwave. Some possible reasons why arcing occurs: The vegetables are not covered. The types of seasoning (ie: bacon grease, onions, etc) Little (if any) water surrounding the vegetables. This is not a problem with the microwave. In order to eliminate the arcing, cover the food product and/or add water. Using metal or metal-trimmed cooking utensils in the microwave causes arcing in a microwave. Please consult the Owner's Manual. If the popping noise is electrical or mechanical in sound, GE recommends contacting service. Thanks for checking with us.
