It senses what the settings should be by what button you press telling it what is in the microwave (dinner plate, reheat, beverage, vegetable, popcorn, potato, pizza, defrost). My guess is it senses how much water vapor is being evaporated off the food to determine if it is cooked.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for asking this question. The sensor cooking pads make cooking easy. The sensor cooking pads generally consist some or all the below: CANNED VEGETABLES FROZEN VEGETABLES FRESH VEGETABLES POTATOES FISH CHICKEN PIECES MEAT When one of these pads is selected, the oven will automatically cook the specific food at a pre-programmed power level that determines the proper amount of cooking time by sensing the steam that escapes as the food cooks. This feature automatically adjusts the cooking time to various types and amounts of food. There is a sensor located inside the cavity maybe in the ceiling. Hope this helps. Geoff@GEA
