has both options, but default vents into the room, but you can change to vent to the back.. after knocking out 2 small precut panels.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Joby-this is Sue from GE Appliances. The over-the-range microwave oven is designed for adaptation to the following three types of ventilation: Outside exhaust (horizontal), Outside exhaust (vertical), or Recirculating (non-vented). Thanks for checking with us!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Comes with 3 venting options: out the back or top to an existing exhaust pipe in your wall or self venting out the top/front of the microwave. If vented out the back there is a small metal frame attachment to slightly extend the microwave vent into the wall duct.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The model gives you the option to vent to ductwork or you can have it vent the air back out into the room. We didn't have ducts to outside and didn't want to put them in so we were happy to see this option available. Just check the installation manual and it will show you how to set it up to work for recirculation back out into the kitchen. It involves basically turning the blower motor, which is as easy as removing a couple of screws, pulling out the blower, turning it, and putting it back in. Getting the filter in place that's required for this install was slightly harder but totally doable. The microwave won't vent quite as effectively with the recirculate option, but we've been fine with the job it's doing so I'd go for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It includes a charcoal filter. You install if you have no external vent.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No but you have to buy a charcoal kit for an extra $15 plus shipping and tax. Oh yeah, and wait another 7 days because the microwave has to be removed to install the kit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it does not require an external vent. Although you can connect to one if you want.
