“A thin card board is attached (right side)inside JVM3160 over the Range Microwave I recently bought JVM3160 over the range microwave. I see a thin cardboard is attached at the right side, inside the microwave. May I know what is the use of it.? or should I remove it. I don't see anything in the installation instruction manual.”

Hi AGST- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Thanks for checking with us!

It looked like there was no way to get it out without disassembling the microwave so you have to assume it's probably not intended for the consumer.
