Questionnoise levelWhat is the noise level for the venting fan?

- Answer On low speed the vent fan has a fairly low noise level. It is much noisier when used on the high speed. I have found the low speed to be sufficient for removing steam, etc. when using the stove top.

Questionis there a way to limit the endless timer signal?The timer signal is endless. It will not cease after a reasonable period of time. I have to stop whatever I'm doing wherever I am in the house and go to the kitchen to stop the timer. I would like it to stop by itself after a reasonable period of time, for instance, 30 seconds or 1 minute. Is it possible to change this?

QuestionWhere is the air exahust expelled?Where is the air exhaust expelled? Most microwaves have angled vents on top that blow the air out in front of the microwave, but I don't see them on this model (or most GE model pics for that matter).

- Answer I have the recirculating exhaust. it comes out the top and exits along the openings (crevices) along the body of the microwave. If you use the external exhaust option, you need a vent hole to the outside of the house. Note that the fans are rotated differently for the two options. Good luck and happy heating.

QuestionI need to replace an over-the-range GE JVM1870 -- it seems that this will clearly fit in the same opening, but will the exhaust vent (to the outside) also line up? I'm trying to make the switch as easy as possible.

- Answer The venting of your current unit and this unit are the same. All of our 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to replace each other. You will need to use the hardware and brackets that come with your new microwave, as they are model-specific. We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances once again!

QuestionI had my microwave since March of this year and just noticed 3 holes on the inside top of microwave. It appears to be designed that way, but not sure. Anyone else notice it in their microwave? Or is this a flaw?

- Answer Mine is not open. I think you are missing a plate that fits right behind the door on the main body. I runs the length of the micro from right to left.

- Answer Yes, and no. The missing 2 is like the generation/variant of the model. I bought one last January, the handle broke off this May/June, I went through a nightmare with Best Buy to replace it with the same model, only to get one that used a different wall mount frame (there are two different ones - it's marked on the box whether the line or the U-shaped frame is inside) and differently positioned cabinet mount holes (my cabinet floor looks like swiss cheese after 3 microwaves). The ne unit also replaced the two incandescent (replaceable with LEDs) surface light bulbs with a halogen bulb that will burn you if you touch the microwave after its been on for a while. So it's the same functionality and features, but slightly different look and feel. The devil is in the details, unfortunately. Good luck! I hope this information helps save you some headache.

QuestionInstructions for installing charcoal filter says to remove 2 screws, then remove grill. Our microwave only has one screw. I am afraid to force the other side of grill off for fear of cracking it. Has anyone else had this problem? Help!

- Answer The hinge side does come off pretty hard. I got mine off without breaking it but I was questioning whether or not it was going to break. It will come off though without breaking though. Just try not to yank on it. Try to pull it with a steady pressure until it comes off.

- Answer This one also, but on this one the vent was facing to the back and because this microwave is sitting on top os a stove, my husband had to turn the vent around to throw the air out, instead of in. Hope this helps

- Answer Hey there, and thanks for reaching out to us about this over-the-range microwave! We understand your concerns over venting, and are glad to assist. If you do not have a separate exhaust hood, there are still multiple options for venting - you can recirculate, exhaust outside through the top, or exhaust outside through the back. More detailed information is available on these options starting on page 11 of the Installation Instructions. If you need to review those instructions, you can find them on our GE website by searching for the model number and clicking on the product page. If you are planning on recirculating to vent specifically, there would be one cover plate installed on the back of the unit and one over the blower plate on top; we would recommend reviewing the diagrams in the installation instructions regarding this, to ensure venting is not adversely affected. - Answer Hello - Thanks for your question! The Beverage pad is sensor operated, and is designed to heat all kinds of beverages such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. There isn't a specific time programmed for this feature. It uses the auto cook sensor to sense the steam from the beverage or water whether it is a room-temperature beverage, tap water or even refrigerated beverage as it is heating and heats it to a "hot" temperature. This "hot" temperature is similar to a coffee temperature just brewed from a coffeemaker and is a satisfactory "hot" temperature for the dissolving of instant coffee, hot chocolate, use of a tea bag or the use of the new coffee singles, etc. To operate it, simply depress the BEVERAGE pad and START. - Answer I just purchased this microwave 3 weeks ago. It will fit in the same space as your prior. However, you will need to use the new bracket it comes with, as we tried to use the wall bracket from our old one we we’re replacing and could not. So make sure you are prepared to do the new bracket install. The vent is on the top
