Q: QuestionWe love everything about this microwave, but why does the vent fan turn on every time we go to heat something up in the microwave? Is there a way to disable this? We didn't get an owner's manual with the unit.

• A:Answer Hi, I was charged $139.99 for installation in Sept. 2020. My microwave doesn't vent outside, it may cost more if you have one that vents outside. My old microwave was also a GE and the exact same size so the installers used the existing brackets. I believe it you put the item in your cart and start the buying process, you will be able to see the installation prices before having to commit to the purchase. I was also $24.99 to take a way old microwave. Hope that helps!

Q: Questionour current microwave is a Spacemaker XL. about 14 inches deep. all new models are deeper. this model 15 inch. Video says 30 inches min. from stove top, but we only have about 16 now. is there a problem, assuming we have sufficient space for pots, etc.

According to the installation instructions, cabinet depth should be at max 13". a 15" cabinet depth requires additional steps and an additional kit (JX15BUMPWW/BB). The distance from the top of the stovetop to the bottom edge of the cabinet needs to be 30" minimum. If not, then this will cause issues due to the heat of the cooktop. Q: QuestionI need an 1100 Watt microwave over the stove microwave. Do you have one or can mine be fixed? The sensors in the door are not working and they won’t let it run. It is only 4 years old and is a gold series whirlpool.

Q: QuestionHave a JVM1750 EP2ES almost same dimensions as this model. the JVM has a 15 //4 depth vs the 15 depth on this one. Can it use same brackets as the jVM one.

All GE 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. However, when replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. This is frustrating, we know. Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. Reset the electronics by unplugging (top cabinet) or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis. If the above suggestions do not solve the issue and the microwave still won't heat, we recommend contacting service.
