QuestionSomeone reviewed this microwave and said that when the night light is on the microwave heats up. I want to know if this is true.

- Answer The lights & area underneath get very hot including the area inside the microwave. GE is saying this is normal but I think it needs to be a recall. My last microwave never got this hot. I’m even afraid of a fire. They say don’t leave the light on long. Why is it a nightlight then & what do you do if you’re letting something simmer on the stove for a while….you can’t leave the light on? This is poor quality manufacturing. They need to fix this. They’re going to wait till it causes fires??

Yes, this microwave comes ready to be externally vented through the top of the unit, but can be changed to be vented externally through the back of the unit or internally vented through the top front. QuestionSeveral details pleaseWhat is the interior color? Where are lights for cooktop located - left and right or just one light in center? Where is vent located - front or back? My microwave will have to be vented so that the air blows back in the kitchen. I am concerned about damage to oak cabinet above. My current GE microwave is 18 years old and works fine except the handle is broken. The vents blow into the kitchen but are slanted so as to not blow in my face or damage cabinet. Can the turntable be shut off? Thanks for your help.

- Answer Hi-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We certainly appreciate your loyalty! The microwave interior is white. The cooktop halogen bulb is located near the front and center and the turntable can be turned off. The microwave can be converted to recirculating (indoor vent). The vents are located on the top of the unit and will extend beyond the cabinet so there should be no concerns with cabinet damage.The cabinet should be 12" min./13" max deep. QuestionWhere is this GE 1.9 cu ft over-range microwave made?Where is microwave made? Is it reasonably quiet to operate? Also, how sturdy is it? Our existing 2009 GE microwave handle and door are crumbling apart, hence the need to replace it, although the unit still operates correctly.

- Answer It comes iwith the unit. We had to accommodate our opening to match the designated screws to attach it. But it worked perfectly and is in place as if it was custom made for that space.

- Answer Hello - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This microwave is designed to go over a range. All of our 30" Spacemaker over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed in the same standard upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth, 66" min. mounting height). The height and depth of the models may vary slightly, but any of our new models could work in your current space. If you are not going to exhaust it to the outside, then you will need to adjust the blower to be internally vented. The mounting plate and brackets come with the microwave. I hope this helps! - Answer Like alot of microwaves if you hit 1 it goes for a minute, 2 goes to 2 min, etc. If you press time cook then you can enter a specific time. There's also a 30 second button

QuestionDoes this microwave have a removable turntable so it can be washed. When I used the Compare feature here at Best Buy, it says the turntable is not removable. I hope that's a mistake! I wouldn't buy one that I was unable to take out & wash!
