QuestionUnfortunately I may need to use an extension cord for this freezer as the cord length is prohibitive. Some manufacturers offer extension cords that are specially designed for their appliances. Does GE sell one that matches up to this freezer model?

- Answer Hi Clugy - Thanks for choosing GE! We strongly recommend that an extension cord not be used with a freezer due to the potential safety hazards under certain conditions. However, if an extension cord is used, it is absolutely necessary that it be a UL® listed 3-wire grounding appliance extension cord, and that the current carry rating of the cord be a minimum of 15 amp and 120 volts. Extension cords are sold through local retailers. Where a standard 2-prong wall outlet is encountered, it is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do not cut the grounding prong and do not use an adapter. Keep in touch! Sue

QuestionI am making wet ham cure, does this freezer have the capacity to hold a water solution and hold the temp at 5F? 4 raw ham butts are about 100 lbs and need to be completely submerged in the solution. The solution is a brine solution.

- Answer Hi gringochic - The operating temperature of chest and upright freezers, including smaller, compact models is -5 to +6 degrees. It is designed for food storage. There are many factors that contribute to the volume of food that your freezer will hold including the physical size and shape of each item. - Answer The measurement inside the freezer is 43 inches in width, 18 inches in dept and 25inches in height. The compressor shelf is 9 inches in width, 18 inches in depth and 9 inches in height.

For the period of 1-Year from the date of the original purchase, GE will replace any part of the freezer which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. - Answer I suggest you obtain a thermometer which read down into the minus, I was told once that ice cream and orange juice to be frozen hard should be zero to minus ten. Other items can be zero to twenty degrees and be okay. Of course it depends on how often you are opening the lid. Again as cold air is heavier than warmer the coldest spots generally will be at the bottom of a chest style freezer. So trial of watching thermometer and moving the dial to get the proper setting for your situation. The colder you set the dial the more is will run to maintain that setting.
