Hi - Thank you for having purchased a new GE upright freezer. If your freezer had to be transported from the store laying down, we recommend leaving it upright for the same amount of time it was laying down before plugging it in. If you do not know how long or if it was laid down, allow unit to sit for a maximum of 24 hours before plugging it in. If your freezer remained upright during transport, you can plug it in now. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We waited 6-8 hrs. It has to stand upright before plugging it in because it may have been transported laying down and the fluids have to have a chance to get back in place. We put food in it when it got down to 0 F or -18 C. The next day
