  • QuestionI see that it is listed as frost free. Does that mean that it has a cyclical defroster in it (warming coil) ?

    Asked by Joe.

    • Answer Hello. We appreciate your interest in this frost-free freezer, and are happy to advise about the defrosting process. This unit is listed as frost-free because it is set up to defrost automatically; our models do so on either a time-based system or usage-based system. The system will activate what we refer to as a defrost heater in the evaporator section at the rear of the freezer. This heater will then melt any accumulated frost off the evaporator coils. That defrost heater is listed under part number WR09X30189. If any further information or assistance is needed, we are always happy to help. Wishing you all the best! -Sarah@GEA

  • QuestionIn frostless or self-defrosting freezers, what happens to the melted frost? Does it just evaporate or does liquid accumulate at the base of the unit in a pan requiring monitoring and emptying?

    Asked by GEApplianceEnthusiast.

    • Answer The frost evaporates. There is a higher chance of freezer burn over time if the items you are storing are not sealed well since their contents could also suffer evaporation. I find the trade worth it since a regular freezer can accumulate a lot of frost over time in a humid climate and then you have to move the contents and defrost it. That's a big pain.

  • QuestionDoes this freezer have wheels?

    Asked by Mary.

    • Answer Hi there, and thanks for your interest in this upright freezer! This model has leveling legs in the front (which can be adjusted to level the unit) and rollers in the rear to assist if you need to move the freezer. If the freezer is moved on a dolly and the legs are in the way, they can be unscrewed temporarily. They would need to be reinstalled for the freezer to be installed properly. We hope this information is helpful. If you have any other inquiries or concerns, we’re always happy to assist. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

    Asked by Julie.

    • Answer Hello- We appreciate you checking with us. Upright freezers have right hand doors only. This means the handle is on the left side of the door and the door hinge is on the right. The door swing cannot be reversed on an upright freezer. We hope this helps! Joyce@GEA

  • QuestionThe door light is on and beeping even though the door is fully closed can this feature be disabled to stop this false alarm thanks

    Asked by Kaypee.

    • Answer Hi Kaypee - Thanks for choosing GE Model FUF14SMRWW! We are sorry to hear the door light is on and beeping even though the door is fully closed and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Freezers have a high temperature alarm that signals when the freezer is above 20 degrees F. On upright freezers with a control panel on the front of the door, if the temperature is too warm, you will see High Temp on the display and hear an alarm. On these models, the alarm can also signal when the door is left open. Door Open will show on the display if this happens. The Alarm Reset pad also silences the Door Open alarm. If you press Alarm Reset and the alarm will not be silenced, try unplugging the unit for 30 seconds to reset it. • QuestionPower 110V or 240V?

    Asked by David.

    • Answer Hi David - The freezer should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating plate. A 115 Volt AC (or 110V), 60 Hz, 15- or 20-amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required. This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires. The freezer must be properly grounded. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard three-prong (grounding) wall receptacle to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this appliance. Thanks for choosing GE. Enjoy! Sue
