There's a single control knob in the refrigerator section (top front) that controls both the refrigerator and the freezer. There aren't separate refrigerator and freezer controls. We have ours set a little bit colder (clockwise) than "normal" and it seems to keep the things in the freezer frozen without overcooling the stuff in the refrigerator.

Your refrigerator will come with the recommended factory setting on "Colder". For colder temperature, turn the knob clockwise to setting "Coldest". The fresh food control regulates how long the compressor runs, and in effect, how cold both compartments can become. Play Video: https://youtu.be/Fk8X4jsGNfg?t=3 - Thanks for choosing GE! SUE@GEA
