- Answer There is a plug that must be installed to use water/ice without the filter. You have to contact GE for it. They sent me one right away.

QuestionSince this isn't a true counter-depth refrigerator wouldn't the cutout dimensions listed for the width (36 inches) be incorrect and would be the same cutout width as the GSS23GSKSS model, fitting an opening that is 33 inches wide by 70.25 inches tall?

- Answer Change the third model letter from a "S" to a "E" to get the "energy efficient" model. It's $ 700 more expensive! You get a couple of extra shelves but looking at the electrical specs, it would never make back that $700 in anyone's lifetime.

- Answer This model doesn't come without the dispenser. If you are asking if you have to connect the water to the icemaker, you don't have to. We just recommend that you turn your icemaker off if it won't be connected. Joyce@GEAppliances

If using an XWFE filter, the reasons the water filter will flash a red light can be due to a bad or damaged filter, the filter is wet, or the filter is expired. Change the water filter or install the bypass plug with the RFID sensor to resolve. Proper installation of the filter can be found on pages 9 and 10 of the owner's manual. - Answer If “Err” is on the display, the filter is not detected or there is no communication with the filter. Verify that you have the XWFE filter and not the XWF. Verify there are no scratches or filter label damage. Replace the filter if the filter label shows damage. Lauren@GEAppliances

- Answer The height to the top of the refrigerator (without hinges) is 69 5/8 inches. The height to the top of the door hinges is 69 7/8 inches.

- Answer Hi there, thank you for connecting with us about this great Side-by-Side Refrigerator. The icemaker for this unit is able to make 4.5 lbs of ice per day and holds 8 lbs of ice total. We were unable to measure the bin of the icemaker because of the "auger" that runs through the middle of it. We're sorry we're unable to provide this information, we know it is disappointing to not be able to find this out. QuestionWe have a 36” space for a fridge, but there is a wall on one side. What is the width when the doors are open to 90deg? I don’t need the width with the handle because there is a doorway the handle would be sticking out into.

- Answer Hello- Clearances are measured from the side (case) of the refrigerator. The interior drawers can be accessed with the door(s) at 90 degrees. Most product specifications list the Width w/Door Open 90 Degrees. The depth with the door open 90 degrees is 50 1/2.
