Q: QuestionIn the on-line description for my dishwasher, Model GDT650SYVFS, the description says there is a food chopper feature in the base of the dishwasher. I don't see it in my new machine. Is there one and how does it work?

• A:Answer Yes, we can confirm that this model features a Piranha™ Hard Food Disposer which is located at the inlet of the wash pump. The Piranha anti-jamming hard food disposer inside the dishwasher grinds food particles before they go down the drain. This clears the passage through to the drain and eliminates the need to pre-rinse dishes. The Piranha hard food disposer is made of stainless steel and will never rust.

Q: QuestionWhat are those strange jets they show on the top rack right side? Do they interfere with using the rack for, say, coffee cups? I see no mention of them in the product description, just some images. Thanks!

• A:Answer In recent years, there have been changes to the Federal Government water and energy efficiency guidelines, which means dishwashers use less water and less energy to run and many surpass standard energy usage guidelines. As a result, dishwashers now run longer to ensure good wash performance but use less energy while doing so. While you can't "set" the wash time, the length of the total cycle is dictated by the cycle and options you choose to use. We suggest reviewing Pages 7-8 of the Owner's Manual for more information regarding the length of the cycles and the options available for you to use. The manual is available online. Click on the Features tab and scroll to the end of the features list to find the link. -Vikki@GEAppliances

Q: QuestionIs this model supposed to have a steam exhaust vent on it like most dishwashers do? Noticed there was quite a bit of water in the unit after normal heat dry cycle. And why is there no smaller side mount bracket holes underneath the bigger side tub plugs?

• A:Answer This model has a concealed vent which is not visible on the door; the vent is concealed inside of the dishwasher door. This provides a clean appearance, seals in sound during the wash cycle, and protects against venting damage to countertops such as Corian or granite. Some water (standing water), usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the dishwasher tub is normal. If dirty water is building up over time in the bottom of the unit and your installation does not have an air gap, make sure you have a high drain loop. The mounting brackets that are included with the unit have been tested and approved for proper installation. Please follow the Installation Instructions as they're written. -Don@GEAppliances

• A:Answer This model does not have the Off option for Dry Boost. You can choose Normal or High, but cannot turn off the Dry Boost. You may choose to use a "natural" dry method also known as Energy Saver dry. Do this by opening the door at the end of the final rinse (when the motor stops).
