Hi there, We're truly sorry to hear that your dishwasher is not starting and is locking the controls when starting. We understand just how much of a pain that is and would like to share some troubleshooting information. If your dishwasher is not working, but the display lights come on and button presses make sounds, it rules out the power source being the issue. Below are a few things that could be keeping the appliance from starting. Checking these possible solutions often gets the appliance working again without the need for a repair. Check the Control Lock Feature: Models with electronic controls have a child lock-out feature to prevent the dishwasher from accidentally being turned on. Make sure the Lock feature is turned "OFF" according to the instructions in your Owner's Manual. The way that you lock the controls does vary by model. Door Not Latching Properly: Make sure there is nothing preventing the door from closing securely, such as trim, insulation, the countertop, etc. The door latch must be fully engaged for the switch to signal that the door is closed properly and is ready to run. Make Sure the Delay Start is Not On: Models with a Delay Hours button will allow you to start the dishwasher now; however, it won't begin washing until the set number of hours has passed. The display will show the amount of hours it will delay washing - for example, 2H - if the delayed start feature is activated. If you have determined that none of these tips will resolve your issue, then you may need to consider scheduling service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737.
