  • QuestionI HAVE A GE REFRIGERATOR MODEL GFE28GELEDS RECENTLY THE LED LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER AND NOW THEY STILL OPERATE WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPEN BUT NOT AT FULL ILLUMINATION SO THE INSIDE LOOKS DARK. ANY SUGESTIONS HOW TO FIX. LOOKED FOR LOOSE WIRES BUT NO LUCK.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer If this fridge has showcase lighting, look really carefully at each light. One will probably be more dim than the rest and slightly flickering. Order a replacement for about $26. Pop out the old one, unsnap it from harness, and put in new one - easy fix! It’s seems that is is kind of like the annoying Christmas lights that turn off when one bulb is bad. Everything we read online said it was control board….nope! Cheap and do-it-yourself. if you have a white surround in your fridge, order the cheaper silver color and switch out the new part for the old. It should be the same part number and will work.

  • QuestionIs this stainless "smudge resistant?"

    Asked by Jane.

    • Answer I would say no. I would call it a true stainless steel surface where you will see smudges and fingerprints. The Method brand stainless steel cleaner that I buy works really well. I use it once a week on all of my stainless appliances.

    Asked by Caladium22.

    • Answer Hello Caladium22. Thank you for your question. We are glad to assist. Frost free refrigerators defrost automatically either on a time-based system or usage-based system. There is no difference between frost free and automatic defrost models. I hope this helps. Olga

  • QuestionI had this product installed around 24 hours ago. we have left it nearly empty as we wait for it to reach temp, but it hasn't coed at all so far. We didn't have the water line installed, but I can't imagine that is keeping it from cooling. Any suggestions

    Asked by quinten.

    • Answer Hi Quinten - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your new refrigerator. When a refrigerator or freezer is first installed, allow 24 hours for it to stabilize to normal operating temperatures. Some cooling should be obvious in the freezer within approximately one hour. The recommended initial temperatures are 37 degrees F in the fresh food compartment, and 0 degrees F in the freezer. If in Demo Mode, try deactivating. Press and hold REFRIGERATOR + FREEZER + CRUSHED ICE buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds. You can also reset the electronics by unplugging or turning off power at the circuit breaker for a few minutes. If there is no sign of cooling within the first 24 hours, we recommend service. Please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at GEAppliances.com/service or call 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) - We apologize for any inconvenience. Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionIs it possible to turn off or reduce cooling in the water dispenser?

    Asked by Senthur.

    • Answer Hi Senthur - Thanks for viewing GE! Bottom freezer and French door refrigerators have a water reservoir coil in the fresh food section that holds 12 - 24 oz. of water. The water is chilled by the cold air in the refrigerator and stored until it is needed. Since the reservoir is in the fresh food section, the water will not be ice-cold. After the 12 - 24 oz. of cold water is dispensed, any additional water dispensed will not be chilled until the water in the coil tubing has had time to chill again. The dispenser is not equipped with a separate cooling devise that can be adjusted or turned off. Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionWe received our refrigerator today and the packaging left a sticky coating on the water/ice maker face plate. How do we clean?

    Asked by Karen.

    • Answer Hello Karen - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Congratulations on your new refrigerator! This is a very nice model and we're happy to help you. The most effective way to remove adhesive left from packing tape or labels on new appliances, and to ensure no damage is done to the finish of the product, is to apply one of the following: ~Household liquid dishwashing detergent; ~Mineral oil; ~Cooking oil; ~Goo Gone®. Apply any of these methods with a soft, clean cloth and allow it to soak. Wipe it clean with a dry soft cloth. Do not use a plastic pad or equivalent. Wipe the appliance dry and then apply polish to thoroughly clean and protect the surface. Precautions: Do not allow the mineral oil, cooking oil, or Goo Gone to come in contact with any plastic parts, especially the inner liner of a refrigerator. These items will destroy the plastic parts. Do not use Goo Gone on stainless steel appliances unless you have tested it in an inconspicuous area first. In some cases, Goo Gone can discolor or darken stainless steel. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
