If this fridge has showcase lighting, look really carefully at each light. One will probably be more dim than the rest and slightly flickering. Order a replacement for about $26. Pop out the old one, unsnap it from harness, and put in new one - easy fix! It’s seems that is is kind of like the annoying Christmas lights that turn off when one bulb is bad. Everything we read online said it was control board….nope! Cheap and do-it-yourself. if you have a white surround in your fridge, order the cheaper silver color and switch out the new part for the old. It should be the same part number and will work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had our unit on five year replacement warranty plan. After four years it began doing the above. GE service tech replaced the controller board but did not fix the problem. Had our local appliance guy come and read the answer below about checking lights and replacing them. None of them flickered but would flash when you first opened the door then go dim. He called GE support and the led light in the climate zone cover was bad causing the problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had a similar model (GNE29GGKFBB) with the same problem. I found that only one of the lights was malfunctioning but this reduced the lighting for the entire line of lights. It is easy to pop out the light assembly from the sidewall (a good video is posted). You need to removed the connector to that one light (now all the lights will be out). Now, you have two choices. You can order a full assembly (housing plus a small circuit board) or you can order just the circuit board from Amazon and online parts companies. I ordered just the circuit board (much cheaper) but the design of the housing does not allow the replacement to be easily inserted, possibly breaking the circuit board. I decided to gently file down certain parts of the plastic housing that prevented easy insertion of the circuit board. This worked well. When I snapped the assembly back into the sidewall, all worked perfectly.
