No. The dehumidifier works best in a closed space. It might keep your basement dry but won't dehumidify the rest of the house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends. Is the house well sealed? Is there air leakage around the doors and windows? That is a major source of added moisture to a home. Is there a lot of cooking, laundry, showers, etc.? We add quite a bit of moisture to the air daily on a per person basis. Is there good insulation in the walls and ceiling? Warm air will carry moisture with it either outward during the winter or inward during the summer. Is the basement finished or unfinished? An unfinished basement will absorb moisture through either a block or poured foundation. Is there good air circulation from the ground floor down to the basement? If the "moist" air does not get to the dehumidifier then it cannot dry out the entire house. Would the dehumidifier be discharging to a drain or will you need to empty the reservoir every 6 hours? If it does not have the opportunity to run when it is needed it may not be able to do what you want. Central Air Conditioning dries out the air during its operation so you may just need to improve the air circulation through the basement during the summer months. Many questions/potential problems need to be answered and solved before your question can be answered.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Marko - Thanks for viewing GE! This is intended to be a room dehumidifier and not whole house. For best performance, the unit should be placed near the center of the area that you wish to dehumidify. Doors and windows should be kept closed. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not likely but possibly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit is kind of small. I really don’t know that answer. My basement is about 400 sq ft and it does the job pretty well. I would guess it could take care of up to 800 sq ft.
