Questionquestion about drop in widthThis range says 30" drop in, yet dimensions list width as 31... why is that... or which is it? Will it fit in my 30 inch counter space or will we end up having to cut up my counter?

- Answer Hi-this is Sue from GE Appliances. It's exciting to hear of your interest! The drop-in range features an overhanging cooktop that will overlap your countertop on the sides. The cooktop is 31 1/4" wide; however, the range is approximately 30" wide and will fit your 30" wide cabinet opening. QuestionLooking for a drop in stove to replace one that is 30 years old. Countertops are 26 in deep. Does the measurement of 28.5" include the handle?

- Answer Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance on radiant smooth glass cooktops since the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Most current brands today have flat bottoms. We recommend using medium or heavy-weight stainless steel or heavy-weight aluminum cookware. This range uses 240 volts. I hope this helps! - Answer Best Buy did not install the range due to the high fee to install oven. I located someone who could do it cheaper than there requested fee of $200 the price of range was over $2000

QuestionWe have a 35 year old Kenmore electric drop in - model # 628-4538550 - 30". It is 90% functional but parts are getting hard to find. Does GE have a drop in model that will fit ??

- Answer This is a great question - thanks so much for reaching out! Cast iron cookware is not recommended with this radiant smoothtop range. If the cookware has a burr or rough spot, it will scratch the glass surface. But, Porcelain Enamel Coated Cast Iron cookware is okay to use as long as the cookware is covered completely with porcelain enamel. JD630SFSS has dimensions of 27" H x 31 1/4" W x 28 1/2" D and should fit in your same space.
