While not all comforters are the same thickness, most will wash properly as long as it fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. The Bulky Items cycle provides a Deep Fill/max fill wash water level to wash bulky and waterproof items. • Caveat, the answer depends on the fabric, fill, overall thickness, and weight. Based on my use of the washer, yes it can handle some king sized comforters that are not heavy fabric, and lots of heavy fill.
