Hi Recluse, The drum does not fill all the way up. But by selecting 'Max" it will fill way more than half, which is way more most other machines. I bought this washer specifically so that I could choose how much water to use. Most times the 'high' setting is plenty.

Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. It is not recommended to manually add more water to the washer. Some models have a Deep Fill option which adds additional water to the wash load, regardless of whether you used a manual or a load-sensing fill. Let us know if you need anything. Mike@GEA
