QuestionI just bought this washer but it doesn’t fill up with water

- Answer Hello, Good question! We first want to congratulate you on the new appliance. Your business is greatly appreciated and we'd love to help. The washer not filling up is normal. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. QuestionHello does this washer have a way of letting me know when its time to add fabric softener? If it does how do I activate it. Last, how do I add softener is there a way or do I have to lift the lid and pour it directly on the clothes.

- Answer I read the manual and it says to add fabric softener along with the detergent and and choose "deep rinse" option. I was skeptical at first but it does a good job. Hope this helps you.

QuestionI am 5'2" will I be able to reach the bottom of the tub to remove the cloths or will I need a step stool?

- Answer I am 5'1 and I found if I got a pair of salad forks . YOu know the ones that you use like scissors ( the best way I can explain it) you can use them to get the cloths out of the bottom. I need to do that as I am so short. Hope this helps you.

QuestionModel:GTW500ASNWS 4.6 Video states holding down Deep Fill button for 3 seconds,will add water to fill the tub to the top. Is this an accurate statement? If machine does not fill to the top as stated, is it considered defective & returnable by GE?

- Answer No it does not fill to top. You have to keep pushing down the fill button until it fills where you want. The machine does not fill to the top and is not considered to be defective.

QuestionDoes this model have a chlorine bleach dispenser? If you where is it. Also can I use liquid chlorine bleach for whites, towels? I don't see a bleach option.

- Answer Yes, it has a liquid bleach dispenser. It does not come with a detergent or fabric softner dispenser.

QuestionHOW TO GET RID OF A MILDEW SMELL

- Answer Hello, Thanks for asking! We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances and we'd be happy to help. Washer odors (like mildew) are usually caused by leaving the washer lid closed when not in use. This does not allow air to circulate and dry out the moisture remaining in the tub area. The air and moisture mixture becomes stagnant and creates an odor. When the washer is not in use, leaving the lid up/open for air circulation will help prevent odor. To clean the wash basket use the following steps. First, fill the washer with hot water; set at regular speed and the longest wash cycle. Add 3/4 cup of a water softening additive which can be found in the laundry detergent aisle (baking soda or vinegar can be substituted). Allow the washer to complete an entire wash and rinse cycle. If an odor lingers, repeat the entire process. Hope this helps! -Sylvia@GEA

QuestionMy fabric softener ball never opens during the cycle and it’s set on deep rinse. Hasn’t worked one time, Also, many of my items come out soaking wet and have to be rung out in the laundry sink. I’ve had a technician out and was told everything is fine.

- Answer Change your detergent and stop blaming the washer, It's the dryer where your problem is,, use a dryer sheet or stop buying cloths made from that fabric... Maybe even try changing the temperature you wash them on.. But in the end it's a dryer thing...

QuestionHad for a few months & has a constant bad chemical smell. It’s to the point I don’t even want to use it because the smell is so strong. How can I get rid of this or do I need to call a tech to look at it? Nothing has been washed that had chemicals on it.
