Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your new GE Washer Model # GFW850SSNWW. We are sorry to hear you are not happy with the SmartDispense option and have good news. If it is desired to manually add detergent for a load, that detergent will need to be added directly to the basket, and the SMART DISPENSE set to off for that particular load. The smart dispense feature can be disabled by pressing the SMART DISPENSE pad until off is selected. For reference and more details regarding this feature, please view page 12 of the Use and Care Guide here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-3000217-2.pdf - We're glad to have you in the family and hope this is helpful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. If you have any additional questions, we are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com. Keep in touch! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it can be. You will have to push it for each load that you don't want to use the SmartDispense. I was concerned that it would use too much soap, but it doesn't. I've done about 20 loads and it's telling me "Tank Low" and that I have 5-7 loads left. I love this washer.
