Yes. I have had mine for 6 months and cannot use anything but cast iron. I finally bought a cheap hot plate at the Dollar Store to boil water. Have been through 3 different sauce pans/stockpots, none of which will boil water on a sensi-temp burner. It should be criminal to sell these things.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also have the sensi temp stove and had to buy new cookware. copper chef pans do ok but the pots dont boil water too good either. took 30 minutes to boil eggs. I ended up having to get tfal set and it works better but boiling pasta, etc takes more time thn regular stove . the oven does cakes n bread pretty good, but with meats it takes around an xtra hr or so. not too happy with this stove
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey there, and thanks for this great question! Our Sensi-temp technology is designed to provide the same cooking power as a traditional coil with an added safety feature, and we do have some suggestions regarding the cookware you use; using the correct cookware will improve the performance. The cookware should come in contact with the silver center of the burner, so we suggest pots and pans with a flat surface. Cookware with a grooved, recessed or uneven surface will impair performance. We also recommend matching the size of the cookware (bottom diameter) to the coil, and making sure it’s evenly weighted and not too light so it comes in contact with the sensor properly (if the food itself is light, using heavier cookware and reducing power to the surface unit would be recommended). If it might be helpful, this information is available in a video on our GE Appliances website; the video is in the ‘About this Product’ section of our product page, and can be viewed when you look up the model number for your range. The manual can be viewed on that product page as well, and it has Cookware Guidelines (on page 12) and a section specifically discussing cookware for coil cooktops on page 8. Among other information, it discusses the cookware material we generally recommend. We hope this is helpful, and are glad to assist if you have any other questions or concerns. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
