Hi SFC - You should also use closed-door broiling when cooking in a range with knobs or controls above the door (slide-in ranges). These slide-in ranges are designed specifically for closed door broiling and produce optimal broiling results. Take a look at the following link - RANGE - OVEN DOOR POSITION DURING BROIL: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19293 - Check out matching GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195SKSS. Four-speed, 400-CFM venting fan system quickly removes smoke, steam and odors from the cooktop to keep kitchen air fresh and clean. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should always broil with the doors on modern ranges closed due to the electronic controls being just above the oven door. These controls are not meant to handle high temperature exposure. This is true for any brand of oven/range.
