Ventilation for the oven is at the rear of the cook top; there are black vents placed horizontally where the glass of the cook top ends. For ventilation of the kitchen, I would only use a range hood vented to the outdoors. Microwave vents are worthless since they don't have enough pull. I had the oven cranking for Christmas (450 deg F) and the stove top didn't get hot, nor did the handles. Cooling fans for the actual burners is internal, and are very very quiet. I had the predecessor of this model, and this new incarnation is much quieter.

When cooking fish and high steam items on the stove top, I use the microwave vent to capture and vent out of the house the fumes/steam. There is a narrow vent along the top rear of the stove top that automatically runs when the oven is being used. It is very quiet and hard to notice. That is the only vent that is built in.
