Garage ready means the freezer is designed to work in temperatures from 0-110 degrees..standard freezers will stop working if the ambient temperature is equal to or colder than the internal temp inside the freezer..most garages are not heated

It is built to withstand lower and higher temperatures than other freezers. My manual says that it can withstand temperature as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit and 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
